Quality Assurance (QA) program
Daniel H. Wagner Associates rigorously applies quality
assurance in every phase of our projects. During the development
process we employ software configuration management, using tools such as
CVS and RCS. As we develop and continue to evolve our software systems,
our software engineers utilize both unit testing and system testing
techniques to verify that all code modifications result in a correctly
functioning system. Once the software has passed this initial phase of
testing, we next have one of our quality assurance team members apply
another round of system testing. When enhancing existing software, this
system testing often involves running a large regression test suite in
order to verify successful execution and agreement of the outputs to
what was expected. In other instances, the testing may involve
exercising a graphical user interface. Additionally, throughout each
iteration of the software life cycle, our software engineers meet
regularly with the project manager to guarantee that the implementation
matches the original system specification.
In order to further ensure the
quality of our products, we also employ internal code reviews to verify
software correctness. While individual developers frequently review and
revise their own code, we also have software engineers who were not
involved in the development of a particular project review the code for
that project. This approach results in refactoring motivated by a
variety of perspectives that creates a more robust, maintainable, and
understandable system as a finished product.
