Editing the JSOW Mission

The mission we've planned so far contains some red sections (for high winds along the initial part of the route), so we're going to try to avoid these red sections by adding a waypoint. As the picture above shows, we've clicked on the route with the left mouse button and then clicked on the menu item Insert Point. Our mouse then becomes the new point, and as we move the mouse around the screen, a rubber band is drawn to connect this new point with the existing release point and target. When we locate the point we want to insert, we click the left mouse button again, and the point is inserted. The picture below shows the result.

Adding the waypoint didn't avoid the high winds, so there will have to be a decision on the part of the mission planner: continue editing the route as it is, choose another target or release point, or alter the MPM preferences. Altering the preferences is potentially dangerous, and should only be done when it is clear that the current settings are incorrect or outdated.
